L'Ancienne Boulangerie is a bed and breakfast full of character; it lies amidst the twisting streets of the medieval walled village of Caunes-Minervois.

Once the bakery for the 8th Century Abbey, and later the local village bakery, L'Ancienne Boulangerie has been tastefully transformed into a charming bed and breakfast, where you are assured of a hearty welcome by your Irish hosts.

Exploring South-West France

Situated 12 miles North East of Carcassonne, the oldest walled city in Europe, an hour from the Pyrenees and a short drive to the beaches of the Mediterranean Sea, L'Ancienne Boulangerie is an ideal base for exploring south-west France.

Explore  -the Cathar region; where within easy travelling distance, the remains of centuries of history surround you, spectacular views and mild exercise all in one go.

Sample - the Minervois wine; the second largest wine producing area in France is renowned for the quality of its wine; top vineyards abound in the surrounding countryside, all available for tasting.

Food  - a host of traditional and modern restaurants abound in the area, simply a gourmet’s delight. 

Enjoy the splendour of the Canal du Midi, pause for a moment at one of the many lock gates, and watch the passage of the waterborne holidaymakers. 

Play -a round of golf at Carcassonne, Mazamet or Beziers. The courses have a long history and will test you. Golf holidays, trips, tee times, etc can be arranged.

Walk - one or all of the many trails, which cover the area, the scenery is spectacular, advice and maps available.

Visit - some of the many cities ancient and modern, all within easy travelling distance, a day trip.

Accommodation at L'Ancienne Boulangerie

 

Ground Floor: Inside the entrance door, we have the foyer with a sitting area, where we have on display a small but comprehensive library of local guide books, publications, historical books and maps relating to the area.  We also maintain a selection of novels in English for that lazy afternoon or early night. 

The adjoining breakfast room : - individual tables, bright with colourful linens and the aroma of freshly made coffee, thus ensuring the perfect start to the day.

Up :- The traditionally tiled stairway leads to the next two floors, where the guest rooms await.  The rooms, each individual in character, are furnished with antiques and fabrics of traditional design.  A colourful flower filled patio area lies secretly on this level where breakfast may be taken on warm summer mornings and is a haven of tranquility on those long summer evenings.

The Second floor  - The studio with self catering facilities; this large room is often used for longer stays ideal for families, writers and house hunters.
